September 2008

It’s time once again for the PCAGOE monthy challenge. The October theme is Day of the Dead, a holiday that focuses on remembering and honoring friends and relatives who have died. (Learn more about Day of the Dead traditions in this wikipedia article.) All of our challenge entries are handmade out of polymer clay, and some are for sale in our etsy shops - click the links in the numbered list below to start shopping! Thanks to everyone who entered this month.

When you vote for your favorite entry, you’ll automatically be entered in a random drawing to win one of two prize packs. First, we have our Hippie Tie Dye Peace and Love Collection, with pendants by pollyhyper, paperpam, JanZio, and polyclarific, beads by clayangel, hair clip by zoeowyn, earrings by stormydesigns, magnets by juliespace, incense burner by Polymer Clay Productions, and hanging CD by polymerclaycreations. The second prize pack is a couple of fun items for the kids by ametistagirl and irismishly. There are two great prizes to be won this month, so scroll down and vote to win!

PCAGOE spans the world!

One of our members, Bettina Welker, resides in a little village called Heusweiler, Germany, near the French border.  She is a graduate graphic designer running a small advertising agency for classical and new media.

In the year 2003 she discovered polymer clay and immediately was fascinated by the unbelievable versatility of this material. She has attended several classes with international teachers and organizes workshop weekends for the German clay community with renowned teachers like Lisa Pavelka and Sarah Shriver. Since 2007 she teaches private classes at her home studio and workshops throughout the country.

Bettina makes the most beautiful pillboxes, many of which are embellished and textured.  Some of her jewelry  incorporates both etching and painting of the clay.
